We must speak out

Attached is a statement MP Betty Hinton made Friday in the House of Commons.

Mrs. Hinton attended a meeting hosted by the Committee for Defense of Human Rights in Iran Thursday morning. She was appalled at the vicious treatment of women that she observed on a video presented at that meeting and felt she must speak out about the issue.

“When you know this kind of punishment is being meted out then you must speak out. We need to, as individuals and as a country, make sure the world knows we will not condone this type of behaviour,” said Mrs. Hinton.

This is just one incident, we have heard of others in other regions of the world. Wherever it happens, we must speak out against women being stoned to death for any reason, Mrs. Hinton explained.
